I just finished Shadow Hearts: Covenant (aka Shadow Hearts 2). It was an excellent RPG and while the ending wasn't quite the tear-jerker that FFX and FFVIII were, it was still great.
The thing I have to say about this game is that it had the best characters in probably any RPG I've ever played. They were just so varied and unique. Not to mention funny. And this is in a pretty intense horror/fantasy themed game. The setting was great too (Europe and Asia circa 1915).
Oh, and the Ring Soul is my favourite RPG NPC ever. It's not often that you actually look forward to chatting with an NPC in a game.
Now on to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (aka Paper Mario 2). Man, why don't they just number games sequentially instead of giving them all these pompous titles?
Anyway, that should be an interesting thematic switch. Demons and curses in 1915 giving way to the troubles and travails of a Mushroom Kingdom made of paper.
