I just found out today that there is actually a town called Centralia in Pennsylvania that is essentially a real life Silent Hill.
Well, sort of. It's a ghost town that you wouldn't even know was there with vacant storefronts, abandoned schools and a coal fire that has been burning for over 40 years and may keep burning for another century. There are a few nuts who haven't left yet, but hopefully they're all that's left.
I'd be more than happy to visit this place, but I'm kind of worried about it getting foggy while I'm there...
