Well, this was one of those days where I wake up and something crazy is going on.
Shuttle Columbia blew up on re-entry. Now I'm really interested in what the investigation will say. It was interesting watching CBC this morning because they had Dr. Roberta Bondar on (one of Canada's former astronauts). She was very blunt about describing the chances of the crew surviving and went into some detail as to exactly what they'd have to do at the best of times and how hard that was just in practice, let alone with the shuttle disintigrating around you and the fact that they were at 200,000 feet and going about Mach 18 or so when everything decided to come apart.
Very interesting, yet it does bring it back to the public that space travel is not super safe. Just ask the Russians.
I just hope that the space program isn't set back any further than it already is. Sigh.
